Drum Error

Drum Error:

The corona wire on the drum unit
needs to be cleaned.
Clean the corona wire on the drum unit.

The drum unit has reached the
end of its life.
Replace the drum unit.

Usually a result of a dirty charge grid. Open front cover. Remove toner and drum. On top of the drum unit you will see a blue tab. The tab cleans the corona wire inside the drum unit. Swipe the blue tap back and forth ten times. If the grid underneath has a lot of toner build up in it. Take out toner, take drum unit outside and blow out. I usually use a damp Q-tip to clean the corona wire. it works better but be carefull not to apply to much pressure. I've found that a lot of times you still need to reset the drum counter to remove the message. Even if you go out and install a new drum.

It is recommended that every time you replace the toner you clean off the corona wire in the charge grid by using the blue tab.

Open the front cover like you do normally to replace the drum or toner and press the clear/back button.

The display should read: Replace Drum?

1. for yes

2. for no

Pressed the desired answer and close the door. If your machine does not have the clear back button then its the options button.
