Sound Good, Screen And Power In A Way Not Working

My portable dvd 1809 has not been used all the time so when ready to use it gets charged and is taken off. Yesterday 3/30/13 was watching a movie and not more than 5 minutes or less the screen went to all sorts of white lines you no longer saw the picture so all you could here was sound for about 30 seconds. After about 30 seconds it turned off while it was switched on. Had it plugged in and it did it, unplugged it for a few hours tried again and got the same thing. Want to know is there any way of fixing or figuring out this problem or will I have to get a new one?
