Asus K70ad, Tyoiiv: Touchpad Problem. I Need To Disactivate It!
Hello everyone,
Further to my first post of 13 June, I'm sorry to say that pressing FN and F9 simultaneously does NOT disactivate the touchpad on my Asus laptop!
I have also tried telling Elan to switch off, but it won't.
Should I try to disinstall the whole thing? I am not inclined to do that because one day I may need it ... surely Asus has a better way than taping a jam-jar lid over the touchpad, which is what I have had to do?
Any other answers gratefully received.

So when you press FN and F9 at the same time do you get an icon stating the touch pad is off with a red circle with a slash on it.
If not then you may need to update your atkacpi drivers to get the functions keys working again. What you can also do is go to the elan settings and under palm tracking set it all the way to maximum.
Have you also went inside the elan mouse properties and under the elan tab you select stop device and hit apply abd gave the box checked mark for disable when external USB mouse is plug in.
