Chromebooks and Chromeboxes all come with 802.11 WiFi, so you will be able to connect to the internet without using a cable. Most of them come with 802.11a/b/g/n WiFi, while some newer ones even feature the ac standard, so you don't have to worry about connection speed, as it's going to be really fast.
Fortunately they are also able to connect to protected networks, like WEP, WPA-PSK, WPA-Enterprise or WPA-1.
Connecting to WiFi isn't hard, but if you can't find out how to do it, then read this tutorial and you'll learn how to do it easily.
How to Connect your Chromebook or Chromebox to WiFiThe first step is to turn on WiFi, if it isn't already. In order to do this, you will have to press on the bottom right side of your Chromebook and you will see the WiFi icon. If the icon has a diagonal line over it, then it's turned off and you have to click it in order to enable WiFi.
Connect to open WiFi networksIn order to connect to an open wireless network, you will have to click on the WiFi button in the bottom right side, near the clock, and then select the network you want to connect to.
Connect to password protected networksIf the wireless network is password protected, then you will have to enter the password the first time you connect to it. To do that, click on the WiFi icon, then select the network and enter the password. You should know that WPA-2 is the recommended method of protecting your wireless networks.
Connect to unlisted networksIf you network is unlisted or your Chromebook just can't find it, then you can try to enter it manually. Go to the same wireless menu, then select your network status and click Join other. Now enter your network's SSID (basically the network's name) and click Connect.
Connect to networks that require your MAC addressIf your network's security is restricted to specific MAC addresses, then you might need your Chromebook's MAC address. To find it, you will have to click Connected to and then click on your network. Here click on Connection and then head over to Hardware address. Here you will find the MAC address among other information.
Now you should know everything about connecting to a WiFi network from your Chromebook, Chromebox and basically any Chrome OS device. If you encounter any issues, please let us know and we will do our best to help you with it
Thanks
