Foretrex 401 Manual
Am exploring the multifunctioned 401 and have found several things that are never mentioned or explained in the Manual. Have sent a Q to Garmin and their reply was lacking. In general the 401 works great but I would like to know the meaning of a MAP point on the map page and being recorded in the points listing. It seems to appear when I'm trying to use the pan and trackback function. Further the manual doesn't explain the pan and trackback function in any way. What I'm looking for is to be able to track back during the night such as a mountain traverse on the path I traveled during the day. I expected that when I selected pan and trackback and hit go I would get a compass page showing the mag course I should follow and any deviation incurred with some data as to how far off trail I might be. IT DOESNT DO THAT ----So I give the Manual makers a zero for poor and incomplete information and will hold my ratings for the Foretrex until I can understand it better.I have four other Garmin products including a 396 for my airplaine---the manual on it is lacking also
