Finally found how to clear the printer memory!
If you accidentally print a document to this printer from a program which sets the paper size incorrectly (in my case the printer is set to US Letter, the program default was European A4), the printer can't handle it correctly, lights up the red alarm LED and keeps telling you "Incorrect paper size" but won't clear the error even if the paper size is changed or even if unplugged and plugged back in!There is nothing I could find in the manuals, tech support has no clue.
The answer is to start the printer up (power up) with the COPY button held down, release it, then press MENU then #
That gets into a hidden service menu. The screen now says
#SSSW
Press the (-) button repeatedly till it says
#CLEAR
Press (Set) and the sub-menu appears showing
# CLEAR
TEL & USER DATA
Press the (-) button repeatedly till it shows
#CLEAR
ALL
Press (Set) and it will initialize back to factory settings, clearing the memory.
You'll need to go back and reconfigure network and fax settings if you use them, and to set the paper size correctly.
Don't mess with the other service settings if you don't know what they do!
