Sony Kdl-46w3000: Recalled? Major Problems.

Is the KDL-46W3000 part of any recall? If not, we are have the same scrambled screen problems as numerous people are reporting. Problem began when the TV was less than 3 years old and is worsening daily. Obviously, it is a Sony defect. What is Sony doing about this? Do we have any recourse? We paid $1800 for a TV that lasted less than 3 years.

this is not a recall set: Here's the list of model #s that employ the suspected parts that has caused problems in a couple sets in Japan: KDL-40V3000, KDL-40W3000, KDL-40VL130, KDL-40WL135 KDL-40XBR4, KDL-40XBR5 These are all 40" made in 2007-08. Sony has set up this web page, and anyone with these models are encouraged to visit it: www.updatemytv.com or call toll free (888) 868-7389 to schedule the free evaluation. If you have the picture where parts are slow to change the motion and darker (especially when cold) and if you grab the top two corners of the TV and push with one hand and pull with the other (flexing the panel slightly) and you can make it come and go, then you have a bad panel. This problem isn't just a Sony problem, other manufacturers have the same problems. you should Call Sony and they might help with either repairing this unit or a big discount on a new TV.
