There are a few reasons why you might get a memory stick error on your DSC-s50 Cyber-shot camera. Here are a few of the most common causes:

The memory stick is not formatted correctly. The DSC-s50 Cyber-shot camera can only use memory sticks that are formatted in FAT16 or FAT32. If your memory stick is formatted in a different format, you will need to reformat it before you can use it in your camera.

The memory stick is corrupted. If the memory stick is corrupted, the camera will not be able to read or write to it. This can be caused by a number of factors, such as improper handling, a virus, or physical damage to the memory stick.

The memory stick is not compatible with the camera. The DSC-s50 Cyber-shot camera is only compatible with certain types of memory sticks. If you are using a memory stick that is not compatible with the camera, you will need to replace it with a compatible one.

The contacts on the memory stick or the camera are dirty

To fix the memory stick error, you can try the following:

Reformat the memory stick. To reformat the memory stick, you will need to use a computer. You can find instructions on how to reformat a memory stick in the user manual for your camera.

Replace the memory stick. If the memory stick is corrupted, you will need to replace it with a new one.

Use a compatible memory stick. If you are using a memory stick that is not compatible with the camera, you will need to replace it with a compatible one.

Clean the contacts on the memory stick and the camera. To clean the contacts, you can use a cotton swab and rubbing alcohol.

If you have tried all of these steps and you are still getting a memory stick error, you may need to take your camera to a qualified repair technician.

Here are some additional tips for preventing memory stick errors:

Handle your memory sticks with care. Do not drop them or bend them.

Eject the memory stick from the camera before turning off the camera.

Format your memory stick regularly.

Back up your photos and videos regularly.

I hope this helps!

The memory stick error on your Sony DSC-S50 Cyber-shot camera could be due to a variety of reasons, including a damaged or corrupted memory stick, a problem with the memory stick slot, or an issue with the camera's internal memory. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:

1. First, try removing the memory stick from the camera and reinserting it to ensure it is properly seated.

2. If the error persists, try using a different memory stick to see if the issue is with the stick itself.

3. Check the memory stick slot for any debris or damage. Use a can of compressed air to gently blow out any dust or dirt that may be causing a connection issue.

4. If the problem continues, it might be worth formatting the memory stick using a computer or a different camera to see if that resolves the error.

5. If none of these steps solve the issue, it's possible that there may be a problem with the camera's internal memory or the memory stick slot itself. In this case, it would be best to contact Sony's customer support or bring the camera to an authorized service center for further assistance.

I hope these tips help resolve the memory stick error on your Sony DSC-S50 Cyber-shot camera!
