No Picture. Just Sound
Samsung HLN617W picture turned off. All we have is sound. Is it the bulb? Or what could it be.

I suppose it could be the lamp, but not likely. I'm sure by now you have turned it off then back on, and if it stays on the TV thinks the lamp is lit. You need to look through the vent holes on the back and see if there is evidence that the lamp is lit, I suspect that there will be a glowing seen.
The next thing is to see if there is any OSD (on-screen-display from the tv menu, volume bar, channel indicator, etc), it there is then the problem is the "MAIN" board. If there is a lamp lit, no OSD and picture then it almost must be the DMD board (most times when this board fails then the set will not stay on very long, or symptoms vary).
In either case the "main" or the "DMD" boards are expensive and the repair costs could be in the range of $500-$600.
If it's the lamp, then the set should attempt to start up 3 times before it shuts off and causes the LED indicators to blink. There is a tag on the left side with the lamp part number to make sure you purchase the correct one, since this model uses two different types.
