Plugging It Into A Tv

I am trying to Plug my Phillips receiver and speakers to my tv but it has no sound coming out...just sound from my tv I have the red and white plug plugged into my tv and my receiver. What am I doing wrong?

You need to have an audio cable hooked from the audio out on the television to the audio in on the receiver. I am guessing right now you have it hooked into the audio in on the television.
