Tape Stop Itself After Playing Within A Minits

It could be you have a timer set so check that the timer function is turned off.

It could be a tape that is tight and so if the machine senses a resistance it will stop the tape. This is the same function as if the tape has reached the end of travel. It could be that the tape transport could need cleaning if the pinch roller is dirty and the tape stops so the machine shuts it down. Try a tape cleaner or another tape that you know to be OK and verify that you have not set a timer.
