Problems With Replacing The Lamp On An Nec 1075 Projector

The existing bulb in our projector had reached the end of it's life (~2000 hrs). I've purchased three replacement bulb assemblies (MT70LP) and we've had the same problem with all three; the lamp inicator LED blinks 7 times and the projector won't power up. According to the manual, it indicates a bad lamp. Three in a row? We put the old lamp assembly back in and the projector continues to work. These were purchased from two different sources. According to the manual, the lamp timer EEPROM is located on the lamp assembly and there is no need to "reset" the timer when changing the lamp. Is there a trick to changing the lamp asembly?

I have seen problems when trying to purchase a NC lamp from anyone else (other than NEC). If the old original works, then the projector is obviously still working. Contact NEC to find a local shop so they can order it for you, or order it directly from them.
