How To Get To Print Black Only

I have a new black cartridge in and all 3 color cartridges are empty. Will this printer print just black or do I have to replace the color cartridges before it will print. It will not print anything and i thought maybe there was a setting I missed.

You won't be able to print if one of the cartridges is out of ink. The printer needs all of the cartridges with sufficient ink levels in order to prevent damaging the printhead. Every time a cartridge is replaced, all colors are primed simultaneously thus the need for all cartridges to have ink.

If you want to conserve the color cartridges, make sure to set your printing preferences to print using black ink only. You can do that when you click File > Print > Preferences/Properties.
