Hp Pavilion Dv9000 Sooooo Sloooow! Will Deleting Programs Help/how Do I This?

Hello - i've recently inherited all of my aunt's worldly possessions, including her HP Pavilion Entertainment dv9000 with Windows Vista (home edition) laptop. However, the thing is so SLOW I'm considering sending it on a 1-way trip out my 7th story window. She has absolutely loaded it with programs, desktop is almost full; could this be why? I'm hopelessly computer illiterate, & dont want to screw anything up further. Might there be a virus? I'd really appreciate any help at all. Thx... & happy holidays :440; PS just noticed it constantly makes that whirring sound they make when busy/thinking; it's never just silent (or only for very short periods of time). Normal??

you are having issues because it is trying to connect to servers that no longer exist.

it was preloaded with a software that was supposed to be a competitor to netflix. it behaves like a root kit. if you delete it, it reinstalls. there is no way to really rid yourself of it.

you have to reinstall with a clean version of vista or win7
