Dell I620 Dt

I have a new Dell I620 DT and the monitor does not work.  Do I need an HDMI cable to run from the monitor to the hard drive for the monitor and computer to work?  There was not not a cable in the box.   If it is needed for the computer to run where can I get the HDMI cable.
