Printing Poorly Even Though All Ink Cartridges Are New And Full

My print quality is faint and hardly readable. All of the ink cartridges are new. Have not had this issue before. Can't find an operator's manual online. Just a simple setup guide. We do A LOT of printing. Maybe the rollers need cleaned? Help!?

Possible fixes include cleaning the encoder and aligning the print head. This Canon page links to articles covering both issues.
