Changing the ink cartridges

I have this new printer and I can't get the old cartridges out to put the new in. It's suppose to lock in place and it does, but there are nobs and a ridge on the top of the old cartridge that will not allow it to come all the way out. So I guess I'm stuck with a brand new printer that I can't even put new ink in. I would not recommend this product!!
