Control Satellite Speaker On Yamaha Yst-ms50 Doesn't Produce Sound

Hello. I have a set of these speakers and have used them for years. They are great little computer speakers and I have set them up in my bedroom and now run my iPhone through them. They produce unbelievable sound. Unfortunately, the satellite speake with the controls and headphone input on the front quit working. I have searched the internet and found other people have had this same problem. I have never seen anyone come up wiith a solution. It is always this same satellite speaker that quits working. The only symptoms I can descriibe are that at first it began working/not working intermittently. I could jiggle the plug-in just right and make it work for a while but gradually it just couldn't be jiggled to make a connection anymore. I cleaned the plug, took the speaker apart and looked for broken places but found everything in pristine condition. Has anyone encountered this problem and found a fix? It's odd that so many people had this same problem. Thanks for any help.
