Help Needed

Hello, I connected my ATS 1010 to the back of my TV using the optical supplied cable but the DTS light on the ATS 1010 DOES NOT LIGHT UP. My cable box is a DCS3400 from comcast. Should I hook up the ATS 1010 DIRECTLY TO THE BACK OF MY CABLE BOX INSTEAD?
