Western Digital Wd1600b011 - Dual-option Combo.
I'm running Windows XP SP3 and have had the Western Digital WD1600B011 - Dual-Option Combo connected for some time to my computer. Within the past few weeks the external drive suddenly shuts down and is no longer visible under My Computer or Device Manager. However, sometimes the device remains visible when viewed under Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Computer Management, and other times not. What is causing this erratic behavior and how can it be remedied?
