Starter Cord Will Not Recoil.

I have a TB6044 xp 4-cycle gas trimmer. Recently I tried to start unit and the pull cord did not recoil. I cannot seem to find easy access to where the cord is stored in the machine. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks, Tim
