Computer Sends Wrong Info To Printer

Dear Help Owl, This is an intermittent problem. Sometimes if I have printed multiple copies of a document, the next time I print something, it prints the same number again, even though the number in the print dialog box is set back to 1. Cannot predict when it will happen; sometimes more than once in a day, sometimes not for a week or 2. I switched to another printer and it still happens. The only way I have found to make it stop is to shut down the computer, unplug the printer, and then reconnect & start both up again. Any thoughts?
