How To Get The Dvd Player To Work On The Toshiba Satellite E305-s1995?

Just bought the above laptop as an open box 2/20/13. There was no user guide.  i tried to use the BluRay and it will not start.  The DVD player will not play any type of dvd.  It keeps asking to download live applications.  How do I get either one of the dvd players to work?

You cannot really play a Blu-Ray DVD or any other unsupport media format. You should install a codec player for you to play this format of DVD and other formats. You can download Media Player Classic and VLC Player since these are popular free codecs online. Here are the links to the download page.
