The 2 answers I received were not applicable. I received a great answer from a different forum.  I was told to unplug the adapter cord and pull out the battery. Then I pressed the Power on/off button simultaneously with the F8 key. My netbook booted right up!!! So, I did  not have to replace the battery or the power cord.
