Toshiba Dvr620ku Combo Appears To Transmit A Blurry Black And White Picture...

Made sure all the basic connections are done correctly: I have the L1 composite (i.e. RCA-with the yellow/video, white and red/audios) audio/video-in cable connected to the corresponding audio/video-out jacks of the satellite device correctly, and the audio/video-out RCA cable from the Toshiba to the corresponding audio/video-in jacks of the TV. The LCD TV of course, has its antenna cable connected to the satellite device.  Now, here's the problem: When applying the "input" function of the TV, the picture comes out just fine when it is dialed to the "TV" mode, but when it is dialed to the "video" or "video1 composite rear" mode--which corresponds to the L1 composite, only blurry black & white pictures appear on the screen. When it is in this mode, even trying to access the "setup" function is problematic, as it wouldn't do it.  Beats me what is at work here, because everything else seems to be in order; the Toshiba DVR620 continues to play, take in and eject both VHS tapes and DVD compact discs. It's able to toggle between the VCR and the DVD, and even the "dubbing" between them. Yes, it continues to record as well. The LCD TV itself works just fine with other external devices (e.g. DirectTV satellite box). Any suggestions or pointers would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I had the same problem (audio is fine, but no video or black and white video) and it even worked fine when swapped to my older tv, but then wouldn't work in color with my new toshiba...it's the CABLES! The newer toshiba tv doesn't like the older model dvd red/yellow/white cable.  You have to get newer ones.  My second spare cables were from other fancy system and the problem went away.  The new cables I used aren't red/yellow/white, they're green/blue/red instead.  Call toshiba (free- go to their website) for more support on how to plug in if you don't get it.

Just had this problem and tried looking for asnwer online (that's why I'm here) but couldn't find this answer.  I JUST fixed it.  "Monster" cables was the brand I used. Good luck!
