Vaio Fs550 Powered On Ac Turned Itself Off. I Powered It On It Powered Down

I USED MY LAPTOP OUTSIDE ON AC POWER AFTER 4-5 HOURS I BROUGHT IT INSIDE STILL ON USING BATTERY POWER. AFTER SETTING IT DOWN I HOOKED IT TO AC POWER AND TRIED TO GET ON THE INTERNET & IT TURNED ITSELF OFF.  I POWERED ON SEVERAL TIMES ONLY FOR IT TO TURN ITSELF OFF.  THE BATTERY INDICATOR STARTED BLINKING YELLOW. I KEPT HOLDING THE POWER BUTTON DOWN BUT IT DID NOT RESPOND. I LEFT IT ALONE AND NOW A WEEK LATER IT WILL NOT POWER ON AT ALL.  DO I NEED A NEW BATTERY?
