Cds Work Fine, But Dvds Will Not Read/play, Yields 'cannot Play' Message In Disp

Why will this unit NOT play any DVDs? Every disc I've tried gets "Cannot Play" in the display. CDs appear to work just fine ; load, read, and play, no problem. I've tired accessing every possible setting and nothing pertains to any kind of "mode" between CD and DVD formats (the manual even says as much that it's all "auto-detect"). Why will this thing not read/playback any of my DVDs? They're all proper region code and not burned copies.

Hi! It could be that parental lock is giving you restriction to play a dvd disc. Or, worst, the optical lens on the unit is faulty and unit may require service.

Here is what you can do to isolate possible issues with your recorder settings. Reset the unit to factory default using the recorder's remote. Make sure everything is on. Press the DISPLAY/FILE button. Select SETUP. Select RESET. After this, restart the unit. Follow on screen instruction and try your dvd disc. If that will not work, unit is for service. Let me know if that helps.
