Go Flex External Stopped Working During File Transfer

external stopped working during file transfer and when i plug it in again it makes a ticking noise for around 10 secs then turns off. im pretty sure it's a frozen file issue that the file is still trying to connect to it's previous transfer but since it isn't active any more. not sure how to fix this issue i checked device manager and tried uninstalling the drives ect ect.. it's never been dropped and it's 2 months old..  i have a significant amount of computer experience please send ways that i could fix this problem.
