Samsung Smh7174be - Night Light Inop
We have had this SMH7174BE microwave installed for about 5 years and the underneath lighting bulbs would burn out within 1-2 months each time I replace them.I gave up on them and haven't had any installed for over a year, but recently started looking for LED replacements with no luck, but went ahead and installed new incadescent bulbs again. I had forgot that the display would say "night Light" on the 2nd press of the button, but it never did do anything from the day we installed unit. I always presumed it was a feature that was missed on this model, but now I'm wondering.What would I need to do/replace to get this feature to work correctly?Thanks

Seeing the schematic makes total since on how it works.
I have heard of some models turning on only one of the two lamps as the night light feature, where this one is applying partial voltage so it's "dim".

In my opinion if the night light never worked, there's a control circuit failure. If you look at the provided schematic where the lamp relay for night shows a diode in the line. This component either failed early on or was faulty at the start of your ownership. Unless you are mechanically or electronically inclined there's no cheap fix. You could spring for a tech but in my opinion the night light function isn't worth the expense considering the age of the unit! BTW: according to the sch. this model should of had the Nightlight function. The photo is here.
