Various reasons for not charging. First make sure the power supply is OK. This is proven if the laptop works with it with the battery removed. The battery may be faulty. Does the light come on when power is applied and stay lit after shutting down. Some laptops only charge when running and others only when switched off. Does the light flash as that would suggest that the charging circuit is trying to charge. If none of these solutions fix it then it will probably need a new battery. They have a limited life of 2 years plus depending on usage. If the battery is completely flat then it can recover if left for maybe a couple of days but not guaranteed. There is an internal fuse in the battery which if it happens that the battery is short circuited at any time this fuse will blow and that is not replaceable.
