Hdmi Connection To Dvd Player Or Ps3 Does Not Have Sound

I recently tried to connect a PS3 HDMI to the TV HDMI1, 2 or 3 and the result is that there is no sound on all games except Karaoke game. When I connect the TV to a DVD player HDMI/HDMI I still do not get sound through the TV. I get sound from the DVD output to DVD speakers. I have not updated the firmware since I purchased the TV a coupele of years ago.
