I Would Like To Use My Tv As A Monitor For My Computer.

What are the proper cables to make the attachments and how do I find the the appropriated mode on the TV to view the computer screen? I have AVGA Monitor Cable but I Can't seem to ake it work. Also, do i need another cable to receive audio?
