Generally when you get a void area when copying, it's because the laser shield glass is dirty and just needs to be cleaned off. This piece is a thin strip of glass, located just below the toner hopper. You can slide it out and clean it off with a dry rag.
If the void areas remain after cleaning the shield glass, they could be caused by something else, most likely something inside either the fuser unit, drum unit, or developer unit. More troubleshooting will need to be done to determine the cause in that case. If you can post a new question and include the steps you've taken as well as a picture of a copy with the void area, we can try to help you from there.
