What Causes The Black Horizontal Bars At The Top And Bottom Of The Screen.

when you watch a movie (especially via DVD or Blu-Ray), the original format is still perserved. When you see this movie in a theater the movie is in a wider aspect then that of even the newer TVs, so the black bars appear. If you have and older 4X3 TV the bars are even bigger. TV movies and HD programming made for TV is in the regular 16X9 format.
