Problems With The Remote

After over 35+ awesome years of service the remote has stopped working. Any button I press, the little red LED on the remote (AXD-7246) flashes. I tried resetting it by unplugging the stereo, replacing the batteries in the remote, nothing works. Tried resetting the remote itself according to the manual instructions and that didn't work either. It might have finally died. I can still turn on the stereo the o'l school way but would rather know if the remote can be fixed. Thanks.

Just curious, if there was something wrong with the battery contacts (or buttons), why would the LED indicator still flash? Regardless, I carefully disassembled the remote, cleaned it thoroughly with the proper cleaning supplies, let it set to dry overnight, reassembled it, etc. The battery contacts were fine but it still did not work. I even cleaned the glass on the front of the stereo where the remote sensor was. The LED still flashes but the stereo does nothing. I don't have a universal remote either. I'd buy an identical replacement before getting one of those. The only other option I have not tried that I wanted to avoid was resetting the entire system itself but I truly believe that won't work either.

It's unfortunate to hear that your Pioneer VSX-D510 remote has stopped working. Here are a few additional troubleshooting steps you can try:

Clean the remote: Sometimes, dirt or debris can accumulate on the remote's circuit board, causing it to malfunction. Carefully remove the batteries from the remote and clean the buttons and the circuit board with a soft, lint-free cloth lightly dampened with isopropyl alcohol. Make sure the remote is completely dry before reinserting the batteries.

Check the battery contacts: Inspect the battery compartment of the remote and ensure that the battery contacts are clean and free from corrosion. If you notice any corrosion, use a cotton swab dipped in vinegar or lemon juice to clean the contacts. Dry them thoroughly before reinserting the batteries.

Try a different remote: If possible, try using a different remote control, such as a universal remote, to see if it can successfully control the Pioneer VSX-D510. This will help determine if the issue lies with the remote itself or with the receiver's remote sensor.

Replace the remote: If the remote still doesn't work after attempting the above steps, it is likely that the remote has malfunctioned and needs to be replaced. You can consider purchasing a replacement remote control specifically designed for the Pioneer VSX-D510. Contact Pioneer customer support or check with authorized Pioneer dealers to find a compatible remote control for your receiver.

It's worth noting that older remotes can become difficult to repair due to the availability of replacement parts. In such cases, replacing the remote may be the most practical solution.
