Replacing The Burner Of Pioneer Dvr-660h-s

What is the part number of the DVD burner? Where can I get it (or a substitute that also plays DVD-RAM discs) from, in the US? I am temporarily visiting india and the dealers here refuse to touch region-freedvd recorders. My husband builds computers,so we are pretty sure we can do it ourselves - ofcourse with the right guidance. Thanks a lot ... Gigi Carlson

You would have to open up the unit and look for a part number on the drive. The problem is that you'll have a very hard time finding just one part for it. It may be cheaper and faster to just buy a whole new DVD recorder.
