Pr-sc885 Stuck In 2 Ch Mode
Any HMDI input will not stay in All Channel Stereo Mode but switches automatically to 2 CH Stereo Mode and won't go back if manually forced. Pushing ACS button says unavailable. Listening mode says ACS mode. Tuner audio will stay in ACS mode but sounds like a warped phonograph record. Occasionally the HMDI video cuts out as well. This unit was acquired as New Old Stock stored since bought in 2009 maybe used once. It performed as it should for a week after setting up and then went into this condition. Could this be a hardware issue or a firmware issue?

Try resetting
Resetting the unit to the status at the time of shipment may solve the problem. If the measures above do not solve the problem, reset the unit with the following procedure. If you reset the unit status, your preferences will be reset to the defaults. Note them down before starting reset.
How to reset
1.While holding down CBL/SAT on the main unit (note that step 2 must be performed with this button pressed down)
2.Press power ON/STANDBY on the unit. "Clear" is appeared on the display and the unit will enter standby mode.
How to reset the remote controller
1.While holding down 1RCV on the remote controller (note that step 2 must be performed with this button pressed down)
2.Press and hold down 2HOME until the 3 remote indicator lights (about 3 seconds). Within 30 seconds, press 1RCV again.

Resetting the PR-SC885 does work for a variety of issues and has in the past but in the case of HMDI cut out it doesn't. What apparently has effected it to work was to reduce the drag of the HMDI cables plugged into the back as well as changing them with fresh cables. There seems to not be a tight connection when plugging them in and the weight of the cables makes them only partially connect..
