Why Is Mediacom Charging Me For Canceling When They Do Not Service My New House?
My husband and I just moved from Oregon to Arizona in July. We started services with Mediacom. We found out in September that the house we were renting is foreclosing on. The landlord did not inform us we received a notice on our front door from the bank. We have had to find a new house to live quickly because we are no longer allowed to stay in this house. I just called to switch my service to my new house which is only 10 minutes down the street. I did not think it would be an issue. I was then told they do not service that area and would be charging me $250 for disconnecting my service. I do not have any issues with medico and would be glad to keep their service. It is not my fault that I have to move and it is not my fault that they do not service the house that I am moving to 10 minutes away! How it is ok for them to charge my for cancelling my service due to the fact they will not service my new house? I have looked into other internet providers in the area and they all say they would not charge if we move out of the service area.

We would not charge you simply for moving out of a serviceable area. You most likely signed up for a contract to get lower rates. Unfortunately with a contract there is an early termination fee involved when breaking the contact for any reason.
