Booting Up In Safe Mode

How do you initiate the phas How do you boot up in safe mode for Windows 8 and the MSI GE 70? I did not make a recovery disk and holding shift key + F8 doesnt seem to work.

Greetings - Press f8 right before Windows loads. Also try Pressing Tab on the first screen, then F8 on the second (before windows loads).
