Ink Cartridge

I've always used 32 and 33 Lexmark ink cartridges. They both ran out, it's been awhile since I've printed now. I bought a lexmark 34 black today and installed it. Now it's saying the "right cartridge incompatible". That is the color one I did not replace. If I take the color out I still can't print because it says "missing cartridge". I need to print and I even changed the settings to print in black only but I still get the original error of "right cartridge not compatible" (I put the empty color cartridge back in). I have a Lexmark #X7170.

The printer won't be able to print if the color cartridge is empty. You would need to replace the color cartridge. You can, however, print using only one cartridge if there's ink on your color cartridge even though the black is empty.
