Unusual Error Code

SYMPTOMS
The Lexmark C74x / X74x color laser mono or multifunction printer displays an error message labeled 982.06 Service Engine Communications .
Explanation
The Lexmark C74x / X74x Laser Color Printer / MFP reports a 242.05 paper jam when you try to print from the optional tray (once installed, this tray is also referred to as ' Tray 2 '). You remove the drawer in question to unpack and reinstall it. This is when the 982.06 Service Engine Communications error message appears . This is because opening the front door of the power option (to access drawer 2) has caused a slight shake, which has caused the communication between the optional drawer and the printer to be lost. To remedy the problem, do the following:

Stepsstock1Turn off and then on the printer / MFP. Most often, this is enough to remove the error. Especially if there was a collision (someone hit the machine). This can result in loss of communication (a brief physical separation) between the power option and the printer. More generally, it is recommended to follow the following instructions in connection with the maintenance of your machine:
- Be sure to position it to avoid collisions.
- Also avoid "forcing" when inserting a drawer or closing a lid.
- Make sure the printer is on a flat surface.
Note: If you have already tried turning the power off and on, go directly to step 2 .
2Turn the printer off and unplug the network cable.3Lift the printer off the power option (also referred to as drawer 2 ).
Warning ! For security reasons, it is recommended to do it at least two.
4Remove the drawer 2 on the floor or on a flat surface (table, etc.).5Turn on the printer again without reinstalling tray 2 . If the error disappears, see what happens by reinstalling the optional drawer 2 .6Place the whole thing ( optional printer and drawer 2 on the floor or on a stable flat surface cabinet.7Turn the machine back on and try printing again.
