My Lenovo Thinkpad Edge E540 Had A Bios Update And The Screen Just Went Blank.

The "Power on" button have no function and the red LED just blinks 4 times after the button is depressed for 10 seconds.

Unfortunately it sounds like something went wrong with the BIOS update and it bricked your motherboard. It will most likely have to be replaced. I recommend bringing the laptop to a local repair shop to have it looked at.

There could be a way. If you take a look at this site it could offer a solution. It would involve trying to boot from a USB stick or floppy to restore the bios.
