Emulsion

how do I emulsify using this blender.  On my old blender I put in a half a cup of oil and an egg ran the blender on slow, and gradually added oil.  This blender will not even pick up a half a cup of oil, and no emulsification takes place at all.  I have now wasted several cups of oil and eggs trying to get it to emulsify.
