Amplifier Loses Power/dies

Hi! The amp part of mu ex-a10 just dies, first time I disconnected the system and planned to ditch it - by chance I plugged it in before throwing it and it all worked again - for two years. Now the exact same thing has happened again, perhaps?? trigged by a main fuse failure/power spike at home a fes weeks ago.Dvd works fine just as last time but amp is dead.I have disconnected power chord to amp, tried different outlets etc so I know error is in the amp. Its like there is a fuse ?? inside the amp?? since it has died and come to life oncebefore...Any ideas?

Sounds like a loose connection within the amplifier. I suspect the power supply area. Firstly can you solder? Check initially for slightly loose cables. If you can recognise what a 'dry joint' is then there is where you resolder the connections. Look for a charred area around component pins. Please disconnect all power from the unit whilst doing this. If you have any doubts consult an electricical engineer.
