Thermostat Broken

I believe my thermostat is broken, even though I have it turned off it seems to being overheating my room and I do not know why. I have the temperature set to 65 degrees but it is heating my room to over 85 degrees. What can I do to try an fix this? I am a college student so the most effective way to fix it would be appriciated. Please help, any suggestions would be nice.

only fix to this problem is to change the thermostat i can understand your condition there is nothing you can do with this thermostat now. No DIY you need to change it to get working.
