Laptop Display

I have an HP DV6-1245 laptop. When I turn the computer on the only way I can even see anything on the screen is with a flashlight. Even at this the image is very faint. The laptop will not boot up on an external monitor.(unless there is something I need to do other than hook it up) I am not sure what needs to be replaced or tested as I can't see anything.

You need a new lamp for the screen it is out. Change that and you will be fine they are located usually right in the middle at the bottom of the screen. Get someone who knows how to do this. Thanks John
