Compatablility

Is the HP Deskjet 3840 compatable with a Dell Computer running Win 7? I am having trouble in that the printer light just blinks but does not print. Could this be due to the compatablilty or the ink cartridge?

The likelihood is that you have an ink cartridge problem with blinking lights. Take a look at the diagnostics utility that you can download from the HP site.

Windows 7 does not have the Printer drivers specific for the 3840 series. However, the "generic" drivers do the job reasonably well. All features of the printer are not usable, particularly some of the confguration set-ups. Download hppiw.exe from HP's web site (http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/COL44840/mp-109033-2/hppiw.exe) and run it to make the printer usable.
