Hk Avr3600 Display
When I turn on the device I only get a series of lit squares on the display. Nothing else will display.

The actual lcd is most likely losing its filamenty voltage from cracked solder connections. The very end pins on both sides of lcd display are connected to a filament inside of display tube. The display will go out if filament voltage is lost. If you can see the connections where lcd solders to front board look at the outside pins for ring cracks.
