What Is A Clicking Noise That Comes From Under The Steering Column?

Do you hear it when you step on the brake? If so, that's the shift interlock solenoid switch. It's attached to the top of the brake pedal. The switch allows the vehicle to be shifted out of park by completing the circuit to the shift interlock solenoid. 

The shift interlock is a safety feature to prevent you from accidentally putting the vehicle into gear without first stepping on the brake.
