Is there a driver for Ubuntu?

I do not think so.  The user guide, available here: http://www.dynexproducts.com/cms/documents/DX-CR6N1_09-0198_WEB_V2_English_Final_lr.pdf

states that Windows is the only supported operating system. 

If Ubuntu supports it it will be using a generic driver, most likely specifically for the chip-set used in the reader.  This reader uses a Genesys Logic chip-set.  I see that some folks have tried to use this chip-set in Linux (Fedora, Suse) but all have had issues.  Now that doesn't mean everyone has issues, just the ones posting in discussion forums. The impression I get is that if it will work then Ubuntu will recognise it automatically.  My searches have resulted in no positive results for this on Linux.
